Ski Snowboard Skateboard Watersports Shop Blog
An informative Ski Snowboard Skateboard Watersports Shop Blog about the world of sports that we sell equipment for and teach.
Our aim is to keep anyone participating in these sports whether it be social media followers or existing customers, abreast of emerging technologies and new equipment coming onto the market.
We also want to share tips and tricks on how to use and maintain your equipment to get the best out of it.
As we also offer tuition in SUP, or Stand Up Paddleboarding, we also want to keep you informed of great places to SUP.
We want to share our thoughts on places we’ve been and places we want to go.
As the weather warms up, its time to get your summer gear out ready for the nice sunny days ahead. We’ve already started and Its been a pleasure to get out onto the river recently on the SUP boards and cruise down the River Severn without a care in the world. Its been a really lifting experience seeing the local wildlife building nests getting ready to have their young.
The whole different perspective from a stand up paddleboard is amazing. If we were in kayaks, we wouldn’t see half of what we see from high up. There is a certain kind of calm on the river when paddling down it. All you can here is the lapping of water against the hull of the SUP and the odd splash of fish jumping. The odd cry of a Moorhen and the raucous laughing “quack” of the ducks.
We’re looking forward to more days like these. Long may it continue.
It’s been a good start to the Spring and many of you have started to join us at our new home of Barnt Green Sailing Club for a SUP session. The weather has been very favourable and we have had almost two Bank Holidays with great Stand Up Paddleboard conditions. That’s amazing for the UK so we should feel blessed.
We are now running the SUP river tours down the River Severn on weekends or evenings. This is aimed at anyone who has more advanced SUP experience or taken the Silver level. The short tours can be taken on an evening if you want to take an alternative to going to the Gym in the nicer weather.
The evening tour we recommend is from Arley to Bewdley as this is around a 5 mile paddle, downstream, finishing up at Bewdley for a nice drink in the Mughouse.
For details of the tours, take a look here https://www.devineride.co.uk/dr-sup-stand-up-paddleboard-lessons/
Hope to see you soon at one of our lesson sessions or on the river.

The 2019/20 winter has started well in the European Alps. Most resorts have seen good snow coverage from as early as November. This has meant that many Ski resorts have opened early. Christmas and New year Skiers and Snowboarders stand to have some of the best conditions for this time of year not seen for quite a while.
For anyone looking to buy there first Skis or Snowboards, we are offering clearance and sale items on many brands earlier than usual to allow the early Skiers and Snowboarders to take advantage of the early snow conditions. So if you are looking for Sale Skis or Sale Snowboards then now is the time to grab a bargain.
The technology in up to date Skis and Snowboards continues to advance. This is true of Ski Boot technology too. Apex Ski Boots have sold well for the last two seasons and this season looks to be similar. Apex Ski Boots are walkable Ski Boots. They are very much like a Snowboard boot that you can Ski in but without the discomfort of conventional Ski Boots. Take a look here https://www.devineride.co.uk/?s=apex+ski+boots&post_type=product for the lowdown on the specs.
If you are sceptical of this boot system (which has been around for around 10 years now), read the reviews here https://www.apexskiboots.com/
Other items new to market this year is an innovative product from 686, the US based Ski and Snowboard clothing company. If you feel restricted by having to wear a camel back type back pack, or have water bottles in your pockets then this might be right up your street. Check out the Hydrastash jacket here https://www.devineride.co.uk/product/686-gore-tex-hydrastash-sync-ski-snowboard-jacket-black/ its a top end jacket with a hydration reservoir in the powder skirt. It wont freeze and you can even leave your gloves while taking sips of liquid (non alcohol if it suits).
What a strange time we are living in. But worry not, over this week, the Government finally relaxed a few lCOVID-19 lock-down rules which means we can now offer 1 to 1 Stand Up Paddleboarding lessons.
This is a great opportunity to try this amazing sport in beautiful, serene surroundings. This will help re-connect you with nature and the outdoors, which has been more than proven now, is great for the mind, body and soul.
As the weeks roll by, we hope that with everyone doing there bit with Social Distancing that we can take larger groups out for a river tour or two.
